The Dilemma Of a Digital Marketer

The dilemma of a digital marketer

As a digital marketer,  I often get the question of what exactly I do, how my  typical workday looks like etc, but I never seem to give a straight answer

Consequences? Drowned in the assumption that my everyday life is all fun with no real work.

It is true that I get to do a lot of awesome work, but believe me, it’s not always a walk in the park.. which is the reason today I decided to walk you through my typical day of work.

So, first things first

Let me start by explaining what is digital marketing, as most people believe that is a job in which I get paid for spending my day chatting and making new friends on social media.

Technically, they are not completely wrong… for I do spend most of my day on social media, and yes I do chat with people and make new friends … but wait… it is not what you think it is!

The purpose behind this is to talk to people like you, understand your challenges and pains in order to find a way to solve it.

So, you see, digital marketing is all about finding the right channels to tell your company’s story, join discussions with people to build relationships, gain trust to establish your brand identity and eventually convert those people into customers.

Now that we both have the same understanding of what digital marketing is,

let us move to my typical work day

In the morning, I head to the office, check my emails and my social accounts to address any urgent matter quickly. Later, I check the latest news, the rest I put into my daily actions list.

Mid-morning, I will go over a team humble to get a look at the analytics reports. We go over the metrics to understand where our company is standing in order to improve our next work. Towards lunch, I do some research and continue to move down my lists of next action to-dos

Tip: Daily research is an essential part of any digital marketer work day. It is important to stay on top of trends, read related blogs to your industry, search for interesting stories to understand your customers’ interests, their pain and the challenges in order to establish your company as the creative solution to their problems

Mid-day, I will monitor our online channels, plan the daily posts, prepare the blog and go over the strategy to make sure our work is aligned with our goals.

Augmented Commerce: why so important?

augmania, blog,ar, commerce

Most of us are incapable of imagining a world without internet in general. But for many, a world without e-commerce is the core of the nightmare.

Online shopping has been a blast for us humans of the 21st century. I mean, in a world that counts milliseconds can you imagine having to be physically present at every single purchase you make? Not only is that a huge time waste but a tremendous effort that not everyone is willing to make.

In other words, the emergence of e-commerce has revolutionized our transactions and basically the way we live, and since the 70s it has been the focus of tech engineers and retailers. Today with a simple click from any device, you can make a purchase from across the oceans, which is awesome! But if you thought e-commerce has reached its top, I am delighted to tell you that it is still developing to make life even easier.

I am talking about Augmented Commerce as in the application of the latest technology augmented reality in E-commerce.

Despite all the great facts about online shopping, we can’t deny the inconveniences coming along with it post delivery. For example, products that do not resemble their online photos or clothes that do not much their sizes or defective items that were shipped because oh well they’ve been paid anyways. Products’ info margins and 360 photos do not guarantee customer satisfaction anymore.

AR, though, changes the equation. By blending virtual layers with our physical reality, AR enhances the visualization of online products and makes distant shopping even more helpful.

It creates an interactive shopping experience

It is hard to imagine how will online products look like in real life especially when it comes to clothes. Many factors are under examination: the color, the material, the size, the shape that is never truly predicted. Trying to imagine all of that and make a decision of purchase is a burden for online shoppers, but AR technology takes it off their shoulders. With its body & face detection and 3D conversion, AR can make you see what your clothes will look like when you wear them. It will help you figure out where to put the new sofa in the living room or where to hang the painting you count on buying for your house.

If you want to go even further, you can also customize the items in your cart. With AR’s digital layers you can make all the modifications that you wish and see how they would turn out.

Those scenarios would have sounded like fantasies a few years ago but today they are real thanks to augmented reality.

What is in it for retailers?

Retailers who allow AR experiences for their customers benefit from many advantages:

1/   They are offering a more personal and compelling shopping experience that increases the appeal of their brands, hence widen their reach and increment their conversion rate.

2/  They are providing a benign commercial environment with AR’s effects. For example, triggering descriptive video animations and adding clear graphic 3D visuals help better showcase and understand complex product features. This decreases customer’s uncertainty and reduces return rates. It also leads to more loyalty and engagement and ensures retailers’ credibility.

Your way to brand legacy

augmania,blog,ar, branding

Can you tell me one characteristic that made you decide to pick a brand and stick with it? So can I, so can everyone.

When you go Christmas shopping or fetch the best birthday gift, you visualize how perfect it matches the person you are giving it to. You can see what makes the brand special and why would it be the most convenient purchase. But why?

It is because those brands had pulled off an enormous effort into making their customers attached to them. Those efforts resulted in brand loyalty, and if you read along you’ll pull it off as well!

One major step to achieving brand loyalty is to increase your brand awareness.

Brands within the same product range are uncountable but few of them make it to the list of “known”. That is a challenge faced by almost every team launching a new product or service. The likelihood that customers recognize your brand and are able to differentiate it from similar brands is a key factor in ensuring the viability of your brand.

The higher your brand awareness is the higher your chances are to make economic moat that will gain you a level of immunity towards competitors.

At this point, you might be asking yourself how can I do that?
Social media is definitely the way to go especially that we know by 2022 total spend for digital marketing will be $120 billion!

See make your ads stand out
But that is not enough.

Making people see your ads or accidentally read the name of your brand on a label or a Facebook post won’t grant you that they will remember it or actually know a thing about it.

Bummer I know, after all the effort you’ve put in advertising to make the crowd swoon over!

What you need is for people to remember you, your uniqueness and your offer.

At a time of stiff competition, the best way to achieve this mission is to embrace the latest marketing tool a.k.a It is all about creating a unique experience for them. Augmented Reality which is what we master at Augmania and this is how we leverage it:

Image recognition feature

This feature gives you the opportunity of linking your logo or any other visual relevant to your brand to an AR experience. Imagine a customer of yours with his/her smartphone that spotted your logo on a random street poster. You can astonish them by an augmented screen enhanced clip that tells an instant story about your brand.

You will basically make your brand a walking companion whether in the streets or on store shelves, anywhere and anytime.

QR and barcode reading feature

Your QR code is your identifier right! But it is a machine readable label. It contains data that basically nobody can access. AR can make your customers decipher that information. Once your QR code is spotted, you can use augmented technology and create any informative video with virtual layers to make it thrilling and educative.

By using AR to enhance your brand awareness, you are literally taking every opportunity there is to make your brand visible. You are fighting oblivion by not leaving a loophole for your brand to go unnoticed.

This is not only a chance for you to uprise competitors and make your products reachable but to also leave an impression and higher up your brand familiarity within the masses.

Successful marketers are convinced of the importance of building and maintaining brand awareness. Thus we can see their trials to reach people by optimizing their online search and making big budgets for paid promotion like AdWords or social media paid ads. Which is important, it is an efficient way to be found amongst millions of websites and pages.

Engaging prospects with AR experiences, however, is your way out from extremely spendy viewability methods with no guarantee of future memory nor engagement.

All that you need is to unleash your creativity and think of the best way you want people to come across your brand. Make an appealing intro, share your core values and what makes you special. Educate the crowd about your brand while astonishing them with a spectacular reality. You’ll see how fast your 3rd party mentions will climb and how easy recognizing your products will become.

5 ways AR reshapes your life

augmania,blog, ar

I am sure you’ve heard about how top leading companies around the world are increasingly showing their enthusiasm regarding Augmented Reality. A perfect example would be Facebook’s recent announcement.
But, ever wondered what the fuss is all about?
The answer is simple: Augmented reality or simply AR is more than just a new trend or a new obsession. It is a key tool that will make our daily lives a whole lot easier. But how you might ask?
Well, here are 5 ways:

1/ Retail

By overlaying a virtual world on top of the real one, AR helps people visualize and try on products from distance. For example, you can use AR for clothes, accessories and furniture shopping. It’s tiring to wander around stores for hours putting on different items hoping to find what suits you best. Now, you can easily use AR to virtually try on whatever pleases you.

Or, even cooler, if you ever feel the urge to buy new furniture but can’t figure out how to display them around your house, just take their picture and AR will show you the best position.

Augmania spent years researching how AR can enhance the shopping experience. If you are interested in being part of the exclusive list of early adopters, make sure to join the waitlist here:

2/ City Exploration

AR location detection feature has definitely proven itself a necessity for big city dwellers.

Regular GPS is struggling to give clear orientation because of the architectural complexity of streets and their proliferated buildings. However, augmented reality can better locate addresses and help you visualize your direction. AR can also make your trips and commute a ton more informative. For example, you can point your mobile or tablet at any monument you come across and AR will bring its walls to life, by giving you clues about its history. This could spice up your daily explorations and travels with both a sense of adventure and knowledge.

3/ Marketing

When competition is high, it is imperative for you as a brand manager or a digital marketer to trigger more customer interest and build a stronger brand loyalty. This is possible by applying AR technology for branding. In fact, many companies allowed consumers to try their products before buying them which earned them a huge success. Using tools like Augmania where you can make a creative and informative AR story about your products, will tremendously increase your customers’ engagement and, of course, augment your sales’ rate.

4/ Education

Educating children with boring textbooks and long lectures has resulted in many shortcomings; such as reluctance to go to school with lots of excuses to skip classes. This proves children’s need for more interaction and creativity to stimulate their minds, which is what AR is made for! By intriguing curiosity and making content more fun, AR is an epitome of the recognized educative approach “teach them while they play”.

5/ People with disabilities

By digitizing what surrounds us, AR helps people with autism through offering them an added layer to extend their capability of interaction. Moreover, with its very developed algorithm, you can use AR applications to point out at anything, anywhere, and you’ll hear a voice telling you what it is.
AR technology can detect your environment and basically guide you everywhere you are, which is a huge advantage for people with vision impairments.
